Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our treatments, protocols, and products

Can I wash my face after the treatment?

No. According to the protocol, water should be strictly avoided for 48 to 72 hours after the treatment. This allows the marine microcrystals to remain active and achieve optimal results.

Water contact duration varies by protocol: Gentle (2 days), Moderate (4 days), Intensive (5 days).
Will I experience pain or discomfort?

Most clients report only a mild tingling or warm sensation within the first 24 hours. This is due to the presence of micro-crystals (natural algae-based particles) embedded in the stratum corneum. The procedure is generally well-tolerated without the need for numbing creams.

When will I start seeing results?

Many clients see immediate improvement in skin texture and glow. For deeper concerns like pigmentation, scars, or wrinkles, 3-6 sessions are typically needed, with visible improvement after each session.

Can I use the products at home?

Dermocean Peel is for professional use by doctors, cosmetologists, and beauty salons only. For home care, we recommend our Sunscreen SPF 50+ and Calming Mask for post-treatment maintenance.

How important is sun protection after peeling?

It's crucial. Following a peeling session, the skin enters a highly sensitive and vulnerable state. The integrity of the skin barrier is temporarily compromised. Clients must avoid direct sunlight, wear a hat, and reapply a UVA/UVB SPF 50+ sunscreen every 3 hours.

How many sessions do I need?

Clients may require 1 to 4 sessions, based on skin condition and treatment goals. Sessions must be spaced no less than 4 weeks apart, depending on the skin's healing capacity.

Is the treatment suitable for all skin types?

The treatment is suitable for most skin types, but there are important contraindications. The treatment is NOT suitable for:

  • Use of Isotretinoin in the past 6 months
  • Pregnancy
  • Seafood/Shellfish allergy
  • Wounded skin or open wounds
  • Keloid or hypertrophic scarring tendency
  • Excessive sun exposure or tanning habits
What should I do about the peeling skin?

Never pick or pull off peeling skin. You may trim loose skin with sanitized eyebrow or manicure scissors. Avoid friction from pillows, towels, or hands. Dry skin is part of the peeling process and helps achieve optimal results.

What should I avoid after the treatment?

After the treatment, you should avoid:

  • Rubbing, scratching, or manually exfoliating the skin
  • Water contact for 48-72 hours (based on protocol)
  • Applying any makeup
  • Sun exposure, heat, and steam
  • Swimming pools, saunas, or steam rooms for 7 days
  • Heavy moisturizing (dry skin is part of the process)
How should I prepare for the treatment?

Before the treatment:

  • Avoid direct sun exposure for 5-7 days prior
  • Discontinue retinol, AHA/BHA, and other active acids 5 days before
  • Do not undergo other cosmetic procedures (Botox, fillers, laser, microneedling) within the recommended timeframes
  • Inform your specialist about any medications you're taking
